DISCOVER THE WORD
Scripture is a conversation across centuries. Explore its connections, trace its themes and follow the story wherever it leads.
A PLACE TO BEGIN
Curated journeys that connect passages, people and promises across the Bible.
BEYOND THE PAGE
Discover literary echoes, direct quotations, thematic parallels and more. Select any connected passage to continue your exploration.
A NEW KIND OF BIBLE STUDY
Explore where Jesus travelled, what the Gospels record at each place, and every cited passage along a timeline.
BUILDING OUR STUDY LIBRARY
See the development roadmap, including current features and the next research milestones.
MADE FOR CAREFUL STUDY
Connections are labelled by their source and type, so interpretation stays distinct from the biblical text.
THE BIBLE READER
Select a verse to read it on its own, or open the full chapter for context.
THE CONNECTION ATLAS
Choose a verse, trace as far as 10 reference hops, and select any node to begin a fresh trail. The map is intentionally limited to a readable sample at each level.
THE GOSPEL JOURNEY MAP
Trace recorded episodes across the Gospels, revisit the towns Jesus returned to, and open the Bible passage at each stop. Chronology and travel lines are schematic where Scripture does not fix their exact order or route.
BIBLICAL PLACE DOSSIER
Checking bibliographic status...
Earlier history, prophecy or motifs connected to this location or region. These are not claims of an earlier visit by Jesus.
The Gospel passages above are primary narrative sources. Historical publications document a site or tradition, not independent verification of a miracle.
TRANSPARENT SOURCE REVIEW
Loading editorial audit register...
This is an AI-assisted initial source and location screening, not a scholarly peer-reviewed reconstruction. Scripture remains primary for what the Gospels and Acts narrate; excavations independently establish material culture, not the events themselves. The full set of qualified issues remains visible and is never silently presented as fact.
BIBLICAL GEOGRAPHY LIBRARY
Detailed studies of Jerusalem, Nazareth, Capernaum, Bethlehem and Jericho. Read the Scripture, inspect historical evidence and explore the limits of archaeological identification.
THE HISTORICAL PLACE STUDIES
Source location and historical caveats are listed below.
01 / OVERVIEW
Names and identities:
02 / SCRIPTURE IS PRIMARY
Old Testament place traditions are separated from Gospel visits. Each button opens the Scripture reader.
03 / PERIOD BY PERIOD
Broad periods and source attributions; not a claim to a fully reconstructed calendar.
04 / MATERIAL EVIDENCE
SITE IDENTIFICATION DESK
Compare candidates for Cana, Bethsaida and Emmaus. These are proposed locations, not proven Gospel event coordinates.
Illustrative candidate comparison. No site is endorsed by the map.
OUR DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP
Follow what Scripture Trails already offers and the research, study features and accuracy milestones we intend to tackle next. This is a transparent plan, not a promise of release dates.
WHAT COMES NEXT
Our immediate emphasis is to make the historical and biblical foundations more rigorous.
GUIDED DISCOVERY
Each journey provides a sequence of passages and a question to guide your reading.

ABOUT SCRIPTURE TRAILS
Designed for thoughtful Bible study, where Scripture is kept distinct from commentary.
Scripture Trails lets you read an ESV, NASB20, NIV or NKJV passage, follow verse references and explore editorially selected connections. The atlas now uses a substantially expanded OpenBible.info cross-reference network, alongside separately labelled editorial links. It explores up to 10 hops using bounded samples; not every possible path appears at once.
Quotation: a New Testament author quotes or cites another passage. Parallel: similar accounts or teaching. Echo: shared imagery or wording. Theme: a human-curated thematic association. Additional imported links are labelled as dataset references, not automatically classified as quotation or prophecy. Context links only move to neighbouring verses when no cross-reference is known.
The Bible is the primary text for biblical claims. Historical background, authorship, dating and interpretative explanations should separately identify their evidence and uncertainty. Connected verses do not automatically establish a particular theological reading.
The separately accessible Journeys of Jesus map draws its episodes from the Gospels and Acts, with a Bible citation for each event. It displays repeated episodes in the same town and has a draggable event timeline. Locations are modern approximate coordinates or clearly indicated regional placeholders, and drawn connectors do not assert a historical walking route. Order across different Gospel accounts is an editorial study reconstruction.
Saved passages and notes are kept in your browser's local storage; there is no account or cloud sync. ESV text is requested from Crossway; NASB20, NIV and NKJV text is requested from API.Bible through server-side proxies. Bible text and API keys are never included in the downloadable source. API.Bible passages use its Fair Use Management System to report displayed Scripture, including anonymous device and session identifiers. This reporting does not include your study notes.
ESV: Official English Standard Version text supplied by Crossway's API when the site operator has obtained a valid key. The ESV is copyrighted and is not included in the repository.
Reader translations: ESV via Crossway; NASB20, NIV (2011) and NKJV via API.Bible. The translation selector changes the displayed text while keeping the requested verse, range or chapter. Verse numbering can differ across editions, and shared references do not establish textual equivalence.

Local supporting data: The Atlas uses a stored OpenBible.info snapshot dated 26 October 2026. Reference files, geography, historical city data and credited city photographs are served with this site. Source citations remain linked for verification. Bible translation text and required view reporting continue through their authorised services.
Cross-references: The curated starter links are editorial. The imported OpenBible.info cross-reference data is CC BY 4.0, primarily based on the public-domain Treasury of Scripture Knowledge.
